CHOOSING THE RIGHT ADVENTURE

What Makes an Adventure?

At Bridgeford, adventure is not defined by how uncomfortable you are.

Adventure is a series of challenges, opportunities, and experiences that invite participants to engage deeply with people, places, culture, nature, and themselves.

Sometimes that means paddling through a swamp.

Sometimes it means standing in a historic place and asking hard questions.

Both can be an adventure.

Not Every Adventure is the Same.

Not every adventure asks the same thing from every participant.

Some Bridgeford adventures are built around cultural exploration, history, and reflection. Others involve wilderness travel, camping, paddling, hiking, service, and physical challenge.

That is why each adventure includes an Adventure Profile. This profile helps families understand the experience before applying, including the physical intensity, adventure style, accommodations, environment, and participant expectations.

Adventure is not about proving who can suffer the most. It is about choosing the right challenge, stepping into it with support, and coming home more capable than when you left.

So How Do I Choose?

Don’t worry, we have a system for that. Each adventure page includes an Adventure Profile. This profile helps you know if an adventure is right for you. Our system is described below.

Intensity Scale

Each adventure has an intensity scale rating to help parents and teens determine whether it is right for them. Most adventures may include components from multiple ratings, but our team has decided that the overall adventure falls under one rating.

Intensity describes the physical demands, not the depth or impact of the experience.
